Healthcare for asylum seekers and refugees
: 30. December 2024
Here you will find information about healthcare for asylum seekers and refugees.
Asylum seekers and refugees are entitled to healthcare for physical and mental conditions, substance abuse problems and dental treatment. It is important that you register as an asylum seeker (which you do at politiet.no) in order to access healthcare. When you register, you will receive a D-number (identity number) that is used to access your health information.
If you live in Norway without legal residence, you are still entitled to immediate assistance and necessary healthcare in emergency situations.
Medical examinations on arrival and patient rights
At Helsenorge, you will find everything you need to know about medical examinations on arrival, vaccination programmes and tuberculosis screening and other available services. The information on this page is available in several languages (Arabic, Dari, English, Norwegian, Russian, Ukrainian, Urdu).
