Permanent right of residence

If, as an EU/EEA/EFTA national, you have had continuous legal residence in Norway for at least five years, you can apply for a permanent residence certificate that applies indefinitely. In some cases, employees or self-employed persons can be granted permanent right of residence after a shorter period of residence in Norway.

Members of your family who have had continuous legal residence in Norway for five years may also apply for a permanent residence certificate regardless of their nationality. It is required that you have lived together in Norway during those five years.
